We just wanted to give everyone an update on Lainee. She is doing great and growing already! She is just a little over two weeks old now and is 9 lbs 2 oz. She is starting to stay awake more during the day and we love that time! She is such a good, calm baby- unless she's hungry, then she becomes very impatient! Its pretty much the only time she cries. She already has her dad wrapped around her finger and he is so cute with her! Here are some updated pictures of our little one! Thanks to everyone for all of their well-wishes and love!

The New Addition
As some of you may have heard we have a new addition to our family. Lainee Dawn was born on October 6, 2009 at 2:15 in the afternoon. She was 8 lbs. and 13 oz.

Here's what happened Brit was having some high blood pressure issues so the doctor was concerned she would get toximia. He recommended we have Brit induced that night. We went in to the hospital at 6:30 and they got things started. After about 18 hours Brit hadn't progressed enough to have a natural birth and things were getting risky. Brit had to have a C-section.
When Lainee was born she had a lot of fluid in her lungs and wasn't breathing immediately after she was born. They got her breathing, but her blood oxygen saturation was too low to be healthy. They hooked Lainee to a CPAP machine which forced pressurized oxygen into her lungs and helped expel the remaining fluid from her lungs. From some blood tests that were taken, they also found that she was fighting an infection of an unknown source, she had some antibiotics running through an IV. The next morning they were able to take her off the CPAP but her oxygen saturation was still too low, so they had her on high flow oxygen. High flow oxygen is best compared to the oxygen you see old people with.
On Thursday the 8th, I had to go to school and when Brit went down to the NICU to spend some time with the baby and when she walked down to her room, Lainee was diconnected from all the moniters, oxygen, and her IV. Brit cried. From that day Lainee was able to be with Brit and me.
We brought Lainee home with us on Friday Oct 9. Brit and baby are doing fine.
Here are some pictures... of course.
This is Lainee on the CPAP right after she was born.

This is the outfit Lainee came home in.

This is my favorite picture so far.
